My Winter Jacket Inspiration

Winter Inspiration

There is no denying it- we are headed into the winter months. One of the things that makes winter acceptable is the prospect of purchasing a new winter coat for the season. While I haven’t finalized what coat I will purchase, I do know that this coat from J Crew is a great starting point and my inspiration for the season.

There are several things I like about this jacket. The length is perfect to wear with skirts and dresses. While short jackets are wonderful in their own right, it can look odd with a skirt if the lengths of the jacket and skirt are the right proportion. Plus, there is just something so chic about wearing a longer jacket. I also love the overall shape and structure of the jacket– it will give every girl a nice hourglass look. I also like the gold buttons. They take the traditional placement of the buttons and make it look fresh.

The soft cream color is amazing and versatile. Another benefit is that the cream is truly a neutral color and will look appropriate with a variety of colors. This means you get more use out of the item. It also means that you can wear a variety of accessories with it to give it different personalities. While I love the light printed scarf shown above, this jacket would be equally at home with something in an eggplant purple, a dark navy, black or bright pink. While the jacket is your investment, the neutral color is your advantage. You can change it up based on your mood, event or style but simply changing your accessories.
